Spirit Of A Warrior

What are your desires? .....    What are your goals? .....
No I don't mean force fed expectations of society, I'm referring to your true desires. The ones that you won't say in front a group, because you're afraid of being ridiculed. There comes a time when you have look beyond the "what ifs."
That is exactly what this boxer did, since never looked back and now has accomplished many desires and receives international recognition for his craft. May this be an example you may apply.
When you here accomplished boxer, you initially associate it with the name Floyd Money Mayweather Jr, however this article is not about him. Though, Floyd has made great mention to him, many still search for who is the next boxer to carry the torch when Mayweather gracefully tips his headgear in 24 months.
Look no further world, the Super Middle Weight Champ is here, Andre S.O.G. Ward.
Fortunately we are in an era filled with names of potential for destiny: Adrien Broner, Saul Alverez, Timothy Bradley, as well as Danny Garcia to name a few. Many criticize Adrien Broner for being a Mayweather shadow in the ring, many people have also never been in the ring. In my opinion Andre Ward has the closest characteristics in the ring to Floyd as any. Neither walk around wielding dual dynamite fists, or are explosive in one area, they are equally explosive in all areas and able to execute on demand. A cool factor about Andre Ward, he hasn't lost a bout since the age of 11 in amateurs.
Bottom line, the kid does not know how to lose, and that is not due to handpicked opponents or sense of arrogance, it's God given talent. That same unbeatable teenager would grow to get an edge over many of our favorite boxers today, and became a gold medalist in the 2004 Olympics.
Far out of the amateurs, even as a pro, Andre would have to prove himself in a tournament once more known as the Super Six. People who had not yet been convinced saw it is as a test for Ward, I on the other hand, saw it as a highlight reel. Every trash talking fighter, every different style, even replacement fighters.... He took them all down to make another historic mark, as the Super Six Champion.
He continues to keep his "O" while keeping his composure in and out of the ring. Now 26-0 Andre reigns as the Super Middle Weight Champion. Wait, he wasn't born with this title, but he was born with this spirit. He had the same opportunity to skip class, go to clubs, join gangs when he was growing up. He could of made every excuse not to practice or compete at what God placed in his heart. Ward is a family man, yet seeing such early consistent success I don't know if he suffered the ridicule from home as many of us striving entertainers do. Jokes aside, as a believer, entertainer, and a man of color i salute Andre Ward.
I don't have a crystal ball nor will I search on amazon for one, though behind the scenes including his panel work, he sets a great example as a Christian and family man.Your discipline may differ from his, he doesn't miss a beat, after every bout: "I'd like to thank my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ."  I am not saying just because he is a believer his talent dropped out the sky, he exercises his faith and is reWarded. Yes that pun was intended. I mentioned some great accomplishments, but his road was not an easy one.
Childhood trainer, friend, confidant and father passing away could have halted his career, instead Andre relied on his Holy Father as a guardian. I actually got to do some light sparring with a pro who later went on to fight Andre Ward. When they say styles make fights, it is not to be taken lightly. I will not name drop, but he was elusive for me, Ward found no trouble finding him. So, one more comparison to Floyd Mayweather Jr is stats, Ward does not lose many rounds., continuing this same path he is destined for greatness. I wish Ward, Virgil Hill and the team the best blessings, and to all readers root for Andre Ward November 16, 2013 +HBO Boxing.
